When I was younger, I was taken from wherever I was to a place underground. They took out my voicebox and they changed my genes to give me wings and then they sold me. Wings are rare so I was popular.

I was raised for other people's pleasure. He was raised to be a killer. That doesn't mean we like it, and it doesn't mean we're doing it now or ever want to do it again.

nill had wings. they experimented on kids, changed them, sold them. these are all things she knew already. and what else would people sell other human beings for? it's at the top of the list, isn't it.

she should have known.

it's horrible, it makes her feel sick to her stomach, thinking of something like that happening to nill. but it doesn't change her opinion of heine.

does that make her cold, or unfair, or terrible? carol doesn't know. she doesn't know a lot of things lately. far too much.]
